Head north from Harbor Springs along Lake Michigan’s shoreline in the stunning Tunnel of Trees and end up at iconic Leg’s Inn in Cross Village for a meal in the garden overlooking the water. Stop along the way at Pond Hill Farm for fun for the whole family, farm fresh food, nature trails, local beer and wine, and hand-crafted preserves, salsas and more. Ski, golf, or mountain bike at resorts such as Boyne Highlands, Nubs Nob, Chestnut Valley, Hidden River Golf and Casting Club, True North, and Black Lake Golf Club – just to name a few. Enjoy the diverse activities along the Inland Waterway, whether a leisurely float through a river or at top speed through Burt and Mullett lakes. Take a ferry from Mackinaw City over to Mackinac Island for the day or weekend for the quintessential ‘island’ experience: horse-drawn carriages, bike rides, and a stay at the Grand Hotel. Ride snowmobiles or ATVs throughout miles of trails and make a pit stop at the Moosejaw Junction. Lounge on sandbars, fish, water ski, and explore Douglas Lake and afterward pull the boat up to Douglas Lake Bar and Grill for dinner. Find a quiet spot to fly fish on the renown Maple River, a blue-ribbon trout stream, or hike and snowshoe sections of the North Country Trail. Stop in for a yoga class, smoothie, or locally-sourced meal at Nourish in Cheboygan or dine deliciously as many other restaurants in the area like Pier 33, Mulligans, or Rosa’s Squeeze Inn. Cap the night off at one of the local breweries such as Cheboygan Brewing Company, Tunnel Vision Brewery, or Bière de Mac Brew Works. Search for Petoskey stones along Sturgeon Bay or just relax on the many miles of sandy shore on Lake Michigan or Lake Huron.
